natural gourd owl guards

Long story short, between coons and owls last year my two gourd racks got hit hard last year. Looks as if I'm pretty much starting over after several years of axp 20 to 30 pairs. Has anyone tried using 2" pvc extensions on the entrance holes on natural gourds? Made one up today and it looks lik...

Raccoon pole guard

I have two gourd racks that are apx 20' high. Last night I had a coon at the top of the pole trying to get at the gourds, dropped him with my 22. Any thoughts on the best pole guard for 2 1/2" round pipe.

Indiana martin photos

Just wanted to share these pics, I'm outside Jamestown, In. Last year we had 30 pair, looks like we might need to add another pole for next year.

So far I'm up to around 15, it's early yet so more are on the way. Last year I ended up with 30 pair.

still around

This year I had 20 pairs and in years past it seemed like after they young had fledged it was all over but this year there are still quite a few hanging around. I counted over twenty this morning. I tend to think Iamb getting a fair amount of stop overs heading south. Any thoughts?

Just a thought, possibly the decoy might have prevented any martins form staying. Sounds like unusual behavior.

Four showed up last night, and went right into the gourds. I think the cold weather kept them south a bit longer.

Should I be worried?

Last year I had 7 pair, which was my first year. I had an adult male show up a few days back but now there is no sign of him and no others have arrived. Is it early still in central Indiana or is there a problem?
