Martin Houses removed close by

What would normally happen if a few houses have been removed about a mile from my place that had a good colony for the last few years? Should I have my houses open for the scouts that are missing a house, or wait until the later wave comes in?????

Opening Size

Emil, you were right. The openings were 1 3/8 inches maybe larger. What is the smallest martins can get in. I reduced the size, but some are now less then 1 3/16 in size.

I can't believe it. I put some molding on the porches about 2.5 inches deep and raised the height below the openings to about 1/8 inch, and the darn starlings scooted right in anyway, what the heck, I hate those buggers, war has been declared

Teri, I think I know what your are suggesting. The other end of the next box should open also, so I can do nest checks from that end and make the entrance side permanent????

Emil, the distance from the porch to the bottom of the whole is much to great, only problem is the doors swing out, does the raised porch have to be right below the opening, or can it set back some?????

This is a new house. The main thing I have is starlings and sparrows. I have the manual for the player, but its not doing what I need it to do. I got the settings from someone on this board a few years ago.

Settings for Sony CFD-ZW755 For Dawnsong

Its been a few years since I have been here, but I got the settings for the boom box I mentioned above to play a continuous loop of the dawn song to go on at about 4:00 Am, and off about 8:30 AM.
