Thank you for the replies. Yes, that is what we did today -- he was definitely mobile and hopping around a lot -- but most likely was never going to get himself off of the ground. So, I put him in with some of his same size babes -- hoping that all will work out for this one!

What can be done about a fledgling who is out of the nest too soon - cannot seem to get off the ground - how to feed it, and is it possible to re-nest it? Our housing is made up of six gourds. We used to live in Plano, TX (we've relocated to Wrightsville Beach, NC, and have martins here :) ) -- in TX, we had two martin houses in our yard, very active returning pairs. Rusted pulleys - help!
Just loaded up the gourds on our gourd rack and raised it -- in preparation for our soon-to-arrive martins, and oh, no! The top pulleys seem very rusted and now the rack will not lower. :shock: I will plan to ask a handyman or someone with a tall ladder to please come over and spray those pulleys......
