Using my Troyer Tunnel Trap

Well, I have successfully trapped two HOSP in my T14 with the Troyer Tunnel trap. Easy to catch them, but not so easy to get them out of the compartment. I cut the bottom of a solo cup and used a clear bag but I cannot get this HOSP to come out. My only option left is to leave it in the compartment....

Re: Sparrow on the gourd cam

I have 3 repeating traps and 2 wire flip traps about 4 feet from the housing forming a circle around my 3 poles. I put them out every morning and put them away about dusk. I’ve caught about 30 HOSP so far this season and the Martins don’t mind at all. I use combination of cracked corn and white Mill...

Re: Best large sparrow trap--suggestions

There are multiple repeating traps. Check out Uncle Blaines Sparrow trap. I have two of them and they work well.

Re: Troyer Trap

There are others more experienced with this S&S trap but in my opinion you should consider relocating it close to the tree in the background. Right at the drip line . That way native birds such as the Bluebirds won’t be as eager to check it out. Good luck. I wish I had one of these traps.

Re: They took it!

Great Job Brent. That gives us all confidence to keep trying. I wish all of you in the cold weather the best of luck. My Martins won’t arrive until April here in Iowa but they are visiting all your sites along the way. Take care.

Jeff.

Re: Removing Sparrow Nests

Thanks for the help everyone. I will leave the HOSP nest until I either trap him in my repeating sparrow trap or shoot him. I can’t shoot towards the martin house since I have the T14 Poly. I don’t want to shoot it full of holes. If no Martins are nesting then I’ll remove the nest right away. That’s...

Removing Sparrow Nests

I apologize up front if this topic has been covered before. I am in my second year as a landlord. Last season whenever I saw a Sparrow nest I would remove it immediately. However that made me nervous watching the male sparrow searching other compartments. I used repeating traps successfully but it w...

Re: Snake guards for the T-14 System

Hello. I am new to the forum. This will be my second year as a Purple Martin landlord. I have a new T14 this season and purchased the Troyer guard that is attached to the house. Are they not very effective?
