Martin feeding
After trying to flip crickets to them this morning, with no success. I put about 200 crickets in a pan I have mounted on my gourd rack and the martins acted like they were afraid of them. I dont believe my martins have ate since sunday, and it was limited feeding conditions then. They were doing alo...

Martin feeding
I have had them make it through a week of high 30's and low 40's before. But the sun was shining bright with little or no wind, but they left eveyday for several hours. I have 5 birds back and they very seldom have left for the last 3 or 4 days. They just set there on the perching rods all day. Yest...

Martin Feeding
Can martins feed on a 54 degree cloudy day with 13 mph winds? I tried feeding them Monday and they wouldnt go after anything. They looked pretty miserable yesterday, but would chase anything, so just wondering if they might be finding food somewhere. They are only leaving for about 2 hours a day Chris

I guess my whole point here is. If the price of good quality gourds and racks was more reasonable, maybe all these people who want to care for the martins, would not purchase a plastic house for them, they would buy gourds which are a whole lot easier and less pest to fight. All those little run dow...

Just thought I would like to talk about the cost of keeping purple martins and how the prices of gourds and housing has become outragous. The people who actually talk about how we should provide our martins with the best housing must be millionaires, because those who control the market for such hou...
