I have a super gourd that had 6 young that fledged by about June 7. The nest was empty in a nest check on June 12. On June 20, it had 2 new eggs. On June 27, it had 4 eggs. I figured the last egg was probably laid on about June 22. Therefore, by my math, I should have had babies on about July 8. Nes...

I have seen a couple in New Braunfels, but thy're just passing thru. A neighbor appears to have one that's staying.

How long should you microwave the clean eggshells if you don't have the patience to preheat oven, etc? TIA!

Like Paul, I put out both, but they seem to prefer eggshells.

Several years back, I was in our breakfast nook, looking out at my PM house & gourds. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a hawk appeared, caught a PM on the fly & landed about 50 yards away. By the time I got out the door, he was gone with dinner.
Not a pretty sight. Haven't seen one around since.

I lost my source for pine needles this year. Anyone know where they might be available near San Antonio? Thanks!

I'm curious. Do many folks on this forum participate in Martin Watch? This is my 4th year in it & I'm a little frustrated, thinking about just dropping out. 6 weeks & 6 nest checks into the season & I just got a snail mail that said there's a new new form I should be using and new codes ...

I had 10-12 hanging around, overnighting. The last 2 days, very few. Not sure what happened. Surely the cold weather here didn't drive them farther north. I'm at a loss.

Glad you're PMs are coming back. I still haven't seen my first one this year. But, in fairness, I've been pretty busy & haven't been watching too closely. Expect them any day.

rrmartins-- Seem slow to me. Last 3 years, I've seen them the 5th, 18th & 11th. Nothing solid so far this year.

The last 3 years, I've seen them about Feb 11 (average), but they seem to just pass through.
Getting close. Probably get homes out of the attic in the next week.
