Thanks Anthony...unfortunately I will have to use that advice if it happens again. After putting the baby back in the nest it tried to fly again...this time it flew into the side of my house. I humanely put him down. Very sad

I had a jumper this morning...placed it back in a nest with similar size babies...came home a few minutes ago and have one on the ground under my crepe myrtle...what should I do now?

I did my nest check this morning...15 pair...58 babies (1 dead), 3 dead eggs, 4 NEW eggs. I have persistent sparrow that keeps rebuilding a nest and I keep removing that nest. WOW...that was quite a fight. It's easy to see why a Purple Martin doesn't stand much of a chance against a Starling

Here in New Bern, NC I have 30 cavities. I now have a minimum of 14 pairs and 67 eggs!

I started doing the nest checks on May 5th and at that time had 5 pair and 8 eggs. I figure that when I do my next check in about a week I should have some babies

I currently have houses and decided to try the whistle gourds from S & K...(so far none of my birds have tried them). I've had a small colony for 3 years but I think next year I will begin to replace my houses with the big bo gourds with the clinger entrances. Any thoughts? Am I crazy? LOL

So excited!! This evening while my darlings are out ... I pulled all the houses down and did a total nest check....I have 38 cavities total...with nesting going on in 21 cavities...and I discovered 2 eggs in 4 cavities...1 egg in 2 cavities!! Yipppeeeeee

I discovered 5 Bluebird eggs in one of my Bluebird houses this morning! I just checked the house last week and no nest, now I have eggs! They were one quick pair LOL

WOW! That many pairs! I'm excited by my 10 or so I still don't believe I have any SY birds.

I noticed this morning that 2 of my pairs have started bringing the green too. They seem to love the Bradford Pear tree nearby.

We have 4 Mockingbirds around our house. They pay no attention to the Martins, and they chase off Starlings so they are more than welcome here
