Hi all,
Good grief. I cannot figure out how to change my e-mail address. I go to profile, it wants my current e-mail and password. If I change the e-mail there and hit "submit" it states that e-mail does not match my password.
Thanks

Newbie "afraid" of her Male Purple Martin
Okay folks, My mom has been a landlord for years and so have my aunt and uncle. This was my first season as a landlord and I had the privilege of hosting two females and one adult male... very happy about that. However, the male was absolutely horrifyingly mean. I mean, he swooped with mouth agape t...

Please help - is this my baby Purple Martin?
I just checked on my only fledgling two days ago and he was tucked in his house just fine and now he is not there. Today I found this bird floating in my horse's water trough? Can you help me identify this bird, Please?

New Landord has a couple questions about snakes...
Fortunately, I have been able to establish three nests in my first year thanks to all in this forum who have guided or educated me about the equipment, process, etc. I have another question about snakes. I haven't even seen any snakes whatsoever on our property but I now have a PM few nests and am w...

Nest identification
I have two nests going in an 8-compartment Lone Star Goliad? My first Martins arrived in mid-June and staying so far! I performed nest checks today - hoping that the nesting is NOT sparrow built. The nest is somewhat muddy with thicker material like small sticks about four inches long. From what I u...

Adult Male Stayed - Female Left
I finally got a pair in yesterday. I have a Goliad LoneStar 8 room and with SREH. The male was trying desperately to show the female how to get in the hole. She would not go for anything. Very disappointed because it appears she has left, but the male is still here. So far, not impressed with the SR...

Getting discouraged
Okay, so I put up a Lone Star Goliad house, set up perches and a few decoys and have been playing dawn song. Still no PMs in sight. Anyway, am wondering whether its possible to still attract martins after the migration period? Thanks all! Here's a photo of my house (it was lowered for some finishing...

I don't know how credible this research is, but this particular Audubon society is thinking that harsh springtime conditions and lack of housing for colonies is causing a steady decline in the Midwest. I do know we've had a very cold spring so far here in Illinois. http://gaylordnelsonaudubon.org/ma...

Making SREH appear larger - has anyone tried this?
Hi everyone.
I am thinking of ways to make the SREH appear bigger by adding some dark contouring around the outside of the hole - somehow without changing the size of the hole. Has anyone tried this?
I am thinking it might help attract. I'm also thinking that I'm very possibly wrong, though.

Stabilizing PM house in windy conditions
I live in a very, very windy area. I've just installed an 8 compartment Goliad Lonestar Purple Martin House and it is beautiful. The pole is sturdy, but the house moves considerably in a strong wind (20 - 30mph is the norm out here). It's not so much the swaying, but the house rotates about 10 - 15 ...

Your thoughts on too many Colorado Blue Spruce Trees
I have a five acre parcel and the owner before us planted Colorado Blue Spruce on three sides of the property. Although the trees are still small, I'm wondering whether this "fortress" type look will deter some new tenants. I've just installed a Lonestar Goliad PM house about 100' away fro...
