Apologies for video shot with Iphone but I am really excited I was home for this.

Yesterday, I got home in time to see my first nest babies begin to fledge. Really funny. One came out with assistance and immediately went back in. Dad went in, got him out and it was on.

This morning I was sneaking around the corner of the house. As I turned the corner, a big hawk flew by at eye level, 20 feet away, followed by at least 15 martins hot on his tail. As I washed and waxed my wife's car in front yard this morning it appears all of my 3 nests have fledglings.

Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.

Good video. This is what you've been waiting for. Isn't it amazing how well they can fly for first-timers.

I'm glad you were there to enjoy... 8)
Sincerely,
Laverne
