I had some old owl guards that I thought would work good to hang netting on for snake control. I think it will work just fine!
You need 4 owl guards, a few hose clamps, rope cleat, for it to rest on and tie straps that's about it. The back side of an owl guard is squared off. It fits perfectly on a square pole. All I did was stack them on top of each other and attached them with hose clamps. I also used a tie strap and attached it to the rope cleat. That way it will stay connected to the the rope cleat when you slide it up and down the pole for nest checks. I will be changing my other 2 poles to this next year. They will fit even better on a 3' pole.

Darryl,
I love the idea. Do you feel that the martin may get tangled in the netting or do you think it wouldn't venture that lower to perch? Other than that small concern, I think it will work in detering snakes.
ImageMite control, heat venting, predator protection and additional feeding during bad weather add up to success.

Dave , I have used netting for years and never had one get tangled in it. I have actually seen them land on the netting then go to the ground to get nesting material. Never seemed to be a problem.

Outstanding! Will be using something similar on my poles.

Thanks for sharing your design!
