I think it would be great to have a report for the landlords to participate in detailing their last flight from their colony. This information could be used in many ways including teaching new landlords what to expect, when it is OK to take down and clean for storing over winter. Possibly narrowing down dates of Major roosts and allow Landlords a visual of exactly how long they had ,our friend, the Purple Martin at their colony and compare the other data to similar places, in an attempt to discover why some Martins may have stayed several weeks/months at one place and not another. Just a thought....we will need something to do when they are all gone!!! Your thought?

I'm not complaining at all....

I do wish the Scout Report was a bit more informative, however, landlords reports can be subjective and not the most reliable.

I'd love to see a better BI implementation...I do lots of analytics and metrics and kpis in my professsion. I use a product called Tableau, www.tableausoftware.com. It has some wonderful out of the box coolness that could easily be implemented here. This would allow more interaction with the map and many other features as well.

I'd love to see a density wave...let me explain. A landlord only gets to post/report on his first arrival for SY and ASY. This does provide great info as you can see the martin arrivals as they move northward. I'd love to see us posting our weekly nest checks online also. This could provide/show the influx of migrations. Example. My first martins showed up March 20th. This info doesn't include how many showed up. Or how fast my colony grew. Just because a couple martins showed up March 20th, things really didn't heat up until April. You could also see or derive from this when the migration slows down. Allowing us to post our weekly nest checks and using Tableau you could create a very nice animation and other cool metrics/kpi's.

This coupled with weather maps/wind maps could prove to be very helpful for hopeful landlords and expectant landlords.

Anyhow...i babble. I'll try to grab the data from the website and put a sample together. I asked PMCA for the data, but recieve zero response....so I have to go grab from individual states...kinda a pain.

There are some changes in the works - there will be more mapping info online for next season to mention just one. We appreciate the suggestions and will incorporate as many as we can.

a person could use eBird reports to model density movements. They have done it on some species. in fact I would encourage all on here to use eBird to log martin reports on top of the scout report and nestwatch data on here, plus any other bird you desire. Great tool. http://help.ebird.org/customer/portal/a ... -the-data-

My Grand-Pa always said keep it simple stupid! Just joking , not all of us are as well versed as some. I have a tough time with the way it is now and hope I'm right at what I'm Posting on it.
