The martins must have waiting to come in on the same day. Yesterday I only had 7, today there must be 30. It's still cloudy with some drizzle, but at least the temps are ok. I'm still way down on numbers. Normally by mid March I have around 70 to 80 martins.

Hopefully most of the martins were wise and stayed south until the bad weather was over.

I'm looking forward to this coming week because the weather will getting better and there will probably be a lot more martins arriving.

Hi Steve, glad your birds are coming, better late than early. We have about three or four weeks to go, they can be late, just so they come.

Hey Steve,

I remember the other day we talked on the phone and you said you only had about five martins! What a difference a few days can make!

Martins are pouring into our two colonies, too and the sky has been raining martins for several days! Though just like you, we don't have as many martins as we normally have at this time, it is a welcome sight to see the ASY March wave roaring in!

My good friend Johnny Gerber in north central Louisiana told me martins are pouring into his colony, too. Another good friend, Troy Galloway in the Dallas area told me today that martins are really coming into his colony now.

I believe the March ASY wave is building momentum now and we should see martins arriving in large numbers all over northwest Louisiana.

I hope your martins like all those new Troyer Gourds you've added to your colony!

Sound some arrival waves are in the region. If La is seeing them, so would Texas I'd imagine. I asked mom to keep an eye out for numbers since we got a little over 2/3rd's of the gourds open right now.

Thanks for the post OP and is good to read you again Steve as always.

Martin Colony History: Had my site up to 22 gourds of which most (+/-3) stayed occupied.
Downsized to 17 gourds due to back surgeries. Had 14 families in 2017 but did not do nest checks due to health. Feeling better in 2018 and hoping for a good year.

Hey Matt@ATX,

Is that the ATX Tax program?
:)

Hey Connie,

hahaha.. No. My screen name is supposed to mean "Matt at Austin, Texas".
folks in Austin will refer to Austin as "ATX"

My colony is not even in Austin but in Buda which is outside of Austin to the south over at moms place. I just could not think of any thing better to put down for a screen name back in 2008 :???:

I love it Matt! I do taxes and my program is called ATX. But, since I'm from LA I didn't know they referred to Austin as ATX!!
