hello all, Does anyone know where southeastern Michigan martins go to roost before migrating? I still have 8 asy and sy martins putting on an amazing show with their 7 babies every night around 9, (and still have 3 babies not ready to fledge yet), so I'm enjoying them so very much, and already knowing how much I'm going to miss them. And, as of today, I've rid the world of 82 sparrows and 15 starlings...which I'm sure helped them survive this summer. Who knew we had so many sparrows??!?

Martin Colony History: 2016 Informed landlord now Have 2 pair returning from 2015 That is a miracle. Hoping for a very successful year, sparrow population on decline.
First house was plastic with crescent holes Had martins within a few days. Ignorant landlord gradually lost them
Then got Trio House and still lost most of them. Lots of sparrows

Congratulations on your S&S patrol. I am up to 115 Sp/ 5 St. And they still are all over the place. I wonder what it would be like if we had more people on S&S patrol. Would be nice to drastically reduce their numbers.

Hey Jan, Sorry can't answer your question about the Roost. Being from North Carolina I only know the one's in this region.
I do envy you though on the Martin's you still have. My Bird's have left a few days ago and already miss them so much.
Congratulations on getting rid of the Sparrows and Starlings, that's so important.! I too have eliminated over 100 Sparrows and 44 Starlings. I keep my traps open all year and monitor them everyday as a habit :!: :!: Rodger

Assuming your birds will join a massive roost on Walpole Island on the north shore of Lake St. Clair. Thousands will be there by now with many more to come and then they will all split for the south around Labor Day.
