7/8 inch by 2 1/4 inch entrance hole for tree swallows will keep out house sparrows much like the sreh for martins.the only thing is b.b. can't get in. I have 2 b.b. boxes with in 25 ft. of my Martin pole.I think both boxes would have to be hsreh. The tree swallow wouldn't nest within 15 ft. of each other.I haven't been able to eliminate the house sparrow from the neighbors.I caught 77 h.s. in June and July last year at this Martin sight. Not 1 b.b. or t.s. has been able to nest there. So far the martins haven't been hurt yet. Here at my home site I have been able to control the house sparrow.

7/8" x 2 1/4", more or less rectangular?

Here, I get very few blue birds. I get lots of tree swallows. And, of course, the martins are doing ok.

The sparrows are hardest on the TS's here. For every 4 successful nests of TS's I find 1 with a murdered female.

If those dimensions keep the hosp's out that would save a lot of TS's here!

We are close to a town so no matter how many hosp's we feed to the kitty's they just keep coming.
