Yes I am. Not sure how to copy and paste here. Look up Sparrow Revenge. He will get mad and destroy nesting Martin eggs while they’re out eating.

Concerning "rat shot"- what kind of collateral damage? If the sparrow is close to a gourd or another bird, how far away does objects/birds have to be from your target. How big a spray does rat shot do? I've use winchester hollow points, but you are right, if you miss, you never seem to get another opportunity. Mine even avoid the repeater traps....very frustrating. I've got 3 repeater traps set out on the property and keep catching my native birds. The sparrows seem very elusive. One day you see them, next day you don't. The male doesn't even sing....they must know I look for them based on that call. What's a girl to do?

Martin Colony History: First started in Gretna, La in 1969 with a small homemade house, have had martins ever since at 2 different homes in Texas

If I am unable to shoot or trap the sparrow, after she starts incubating the eggs, then I lower the housing a bit, get a stepladder, and close the hole at night (be very quiet and do not disturb the martins). The next morning I destroy the female, the eggs, and the nest.
