2021:

Here is the upgraded housing I put up. I got the create a rack gourd rack from the website and hung 3 super gourds on it. System is really easy to install and the gourds look like they are more than comfortable for 3 lucky pairs. For people like me that are limited to how much housing you can put up this is a very convenient rack to add. I’m curious and hopeful that the 3 gourds will be filled up this season. I started my colony last year with 2 pair and anxiously awaiting their arrival back home.

Looks great. Glad to see you got the crescent entrances that was a wise choice and the birds take to them well. Please keep us updated and I look forward to hearing of your colonies success this season. Here is a picture of some of my birds today. Currently have 25 coming in for the night.

I wouldn't be surprised if the gourds are the first nests chosen when they return. Here at my place the gourds are much preferred over my Duracraft castle.

SS, I like the look of that gourd rack. I have 2 racks like that with just 12 gourds each. Did you add an extension for 18 gourds or is that how it came?

This rack was purchased as an 18 gourd setup with the stainless steel arms. Basically it just has 3 hubs instead of the 2. You can purchase an upgrade kit to add a hub to your current 12 racks and they're very easy to install.

Is that a 2" pole. Does it handle the 18 gourds, without problems?

Yes it is the 2" square pole with pulley system. I personally have no issues raising it and it handles the 18 gourds beautifully. I have seen a 24 gourd upgrade for the 2" pole but I am not sure if that's pushing it.
