I purchased a worm wheel winch this year for my 18 gourd pole. Was wondering if anyone else had experience with this type of winch. When I raise it up using a cordless drill it makes a loud chatter but bringing the gourds down is very smooth & silent.

Lubricate it with WD40 or similar. Spray the worm and all moving parts.

Make sure the gears are greased annually and it also helps to spray the cable with silicone dry lube for smoother tracking.

I found out you should not use a impact drill (which I was) Just a standard drill not impact drill. Makes the difference in the sound very smooth.
