- Martin Colony History: 85 pair in 2020. Seems fairly consistent the last few years.
After hosting Purple Martin's several years, this is the first year tufted titmouse raised young in martin housing with Martin's all around. Two pair in fact.

2023 - 2 pair, 9E, 5H, 5F
2024 - 4 pair, 16E, 16H, 14F (2 more pair started nests but failed due to weather/loss of mate).
i had chickadees starting to build in a gourd. i had to block it. over 40 yrs of having various birdhouses, i think i've only had chickadees use one 3 times and then they try to get in my gourds!

Cool(I think). I have 2 BB houses on my property. This was the first year I had Tufted titmouse nest and successfully fledge. They are beautiful little birds and their nests are fascinating. They like to line them with hair and fur and are known to steal fur off of living animals.
A pair of tufted titmouse in an almost full gourd rack. Also a house wren close by. perfectly behaved neighbors and funny thing I see them chase and badger the sparrows around. Absolutely no problems with sparrows. these guys pester them more than a "mother in law". Never hear the 'chirtle' around here. My pellet gun is getting a break thats for sure. Kinda miss it BUT it is always handy and close by

The Great Crested Flycatcher will absolutely demolish a starling.
