I live several hours from Concord, NC. On a trip to that area several years ago, it was martin roosting season, and I was excited to see martins flying around at dusk near Concord Mills Outlet Mall. I wondered if there was a staging area or roost nearby. No roosts are reported on the PMCA’s Project MartinRoost web page for Concord, NC. And no colonies in that area submit reports on the Scout Arrival page. I know it could have just been martins coming home to a local colony to spend the night, but I will soon be traveling there again for a brief visit, and I would love to find or visit a roost!
So if anyone knows or suspects a roost in Concord, NC near Concord Mills Outlet Mall, I would love to hear any information you can share about it, so I can hunt for it, while I'm there!
Thank you!

There was a roost ring visible on radar at Concord this morning. The ring appeared a little bigger today compared to yesterday. The attached image does not do it justice, but I should be able to zoom in on the roost with a different website tomorrow morning if I remember too.

Yes, scottfreidhof, it was VERY satisfying...thrilling!...to find the roost in Concord! I have visited 6 roosts, and they are all different, and wonderful! I finally finished my write-up about discovering the Concord roost and made the Forum post about my adventure... if you wish to read about it, see the post: "I found a Purple Martin Roost in Concord, NC!"
And I actually also discovered ANOTHER roost, a few weeks after finding that one....in Clarksville, VA, just 30 minutes from my house!...thanks to a tip from friend and fellow-landlord, Kenny Stanfield, who informed me of a post he’d read on the North Carolina Purple Martin Society's Facebook Group page about roost rings seen on radar in Mecklenburg County, VA. I started watching the radar, trying to pinpoint the epicenter, and studying Google aerial maps of that area, trying to figure out places martins would seek out to roost--and rode down there one evening to hunt for the roost…and found it! So exciting!
