No activity here, just an occasional passer-by landing then leaving (maybe after resting). I'm going to lower my three houses, and if no signs of nests or babies, will take them down for the season. Anyone local (within 30 miles of Paulina) still have nesting going on or have you already closed for the season? I don't want it to end, but it has to be done.

Martin Colony History: 2023- 2 racks. 24 gourds
2024- 2 racks.28 gourds. 100 fledged
2025- 3 racks. 24 gourds,6 chirpy nest.105 fledged.

It’s sad when the season ends and the houses are put up. I have probably four to five more weeks here in eastern missouri. How did this season go for you?

Went well. No dead birds, and only 3 dead eggs. I just found one compartment that had three young birds in it. Their eyes were open and they had feathers, but were not old enough to fledge. The parents were putting up a fuss while I was checking the houses. I will give it another week and check again next weekend.

I have a nest of 3 - 16 day old chicks but no active nest building. Lots of visitors though.

Same here... One late nest of 4 healthy babies due to fledge in ~4 days. Still quite a few visitors but dwindling.

I took them down yesterday (Wednesday). No signs of any Martins in the area. Usually when I am out lowering the houses to do a check, the birds are flying around squawking, but not yesterday. No birds, babies, and just a nest that had some very old dead eggs which I saw in the last nest check. Oh well, done until next year (sadly).
