Well, that test did not work. I will need to try something else.

Ok, I got it to work now for the moment it seems. If you don't see see pictures and see boxes with x's in them, then obviously it failed. If you see pictures though, it worked.

Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.

WOW!!

I am AMAZED!

Those are some fantastic photos, Steve.

Sam, it appears your new site will prove to be very beneficial...

Thanks, again.
Sincerely,
Laverne

Samuel,

It worked! I have been posting my pictures on your new purple martin website. I am still learning how to use the settings at your site. We have more space to post pictures. Now, how did you get my pictures from your site to the Forum? Will I be able to do that? Thanks.

Steve, ok, it is kinda tricky, but here it goes...

First, you go to your photo album then you click on the specific photo that you want, for example, I will use goliadcovered2.jpg

When you have clicked the specific photo, you then put your mouse pointer over the photo and right click and then select Properties. You then copy the URL address. You just put your mouse pointer over the text and highlight it to copy it. You will have to drag your mouse pointer down to copy all of the text as it is not all viewable in your Properties window as it only shows just 2 lines of text. For the example photo goliadcovered2.jpg it is 5 lines of text. The address is quite criptic and lengthy. Once you copy it it will look like this...

http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0TQCvAnQY ... 2319181277

You will then delete any text after the file name goliadcovered2.jpg
In this particular case, you would be deleting ?dc=4675535692319181277

Ok, now from the PMCA Post a new topic screen, you paste the full URL address to your photo, which in this case is...

http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0TQCvAnQY ... vered2.jpg

then you highlight it and click the "Img" box. (It is just below the subject line box, next to Code, List, List=, etc.)

When you cilck that it will place brackets on each side of your text so as to link to the photo and show up in your thread just as though you posted the picture directly into the thread.

Samuel,

Now that does look a little scary! Probably just me! Well, I might try it. I will copy your answer and study it more closely. Again, I appreciate you setting up your new purple martin website and hope many folks from the Forum will visit and join. I still have some more pictures to post on your site. Thanks again.

Steve, just experiment with it and test it until you figure it out. The key is to get the correct URL address to the photo, once you have that, it is just a matter of copying and pasting and then selecting "Img" to get the URL address to show up as a photo and not as text.

Steve, I never heard back from you. Did you ever decide to give it a try and "post-link" a picture here?

I sent a few e-mails, but for some reason, I am just now getting them back as returned with a message saying it was due to being unable to
connect successfully to the destination mail server.

Samuel,

I haven't tried to post-link yet. I did post some more pictures on your website. I need to go back and give them a brief narrative. My main problem is that I have a very slow dial up connection which takes forever it seems to download/upload photos! I may eventually go to a satellite connection through AOL. That is much faster.

Steve, here is the last pic, #20 of the 20 pics you posted so far. This is the command I use to get it to display...

Image

I just went to the picture, right clicked to get the full url address and then "post-linked" it in here. Took me less than 15 seconds to do the entire copy paste and Img tag.

Once you figure it out, there is no down load time involved. "Post-linked" items load over the internet and it does not matter what method was used to upload them. For example, I have a cable connection, pics just load instantly with no delay, even though you submitted them via a dial up connection.

Steve, I just wanted you to have an additional source of instruction about
how to "post-link" photos. I have been communicating with Robert
McCallum of Tulsa, OK trying to show him how to "post-link" photos. It
might help if you see the conversation as it has quite a bit of trial an error
information...

That is a link to the thread.

yvesquad, Let me give you a hand. First of all, you have the "Img" tags
correct, which would be a Image after the url.

Image

note: in the above example, I placed spaces just to demonstrate the
correct way to display a photo. When you actually post link photos with
the "Img" tags, you do not put spaces.

Ok, yvesquad, we have determined you have used the correct "Img"
tags. So let us now look at your url. You must have a valid url address to
the photo you wish to display.

Look how your url ends =>
0UgA*AwwbtaG!B5!RNAapKsXnLkbnXSe7mrG2Ubx7VaI1LH0dmJR33!
This is not a valid image file name and extension. A valid image file and
extension name would be MYPICTURE.JPG

You have the "Img" tags figured out, all you need now is a full url address
that ends in a valid image file name and extension.

If you will let me know the exact image you are trying to display, I will
display it for you and tell the exact url address so you can do it yourself.
I am glad to help you so just keep working on it and between the both of
us, we can figure it out.
