Of my 12 nests, all but 3 have fully fledged. The three that remain are just days away from fledge. I have noticed a ton of fighting going on. It is really quite aggressive. I can't figure out if: parents are turning babies away from coming home? Or are parents protecting babies from other adults?
Comments appreciated
John

my guess is fledglings are returning but trying to go into the wrong cavity and other pairs are keeping them out.
2017 - Home & Public Colonies - 300 Cavities
When the parent birds guide their young back to the housing to roost for the night, the fledglings always seem to compete, and fight one another over who gets in the compartment first. I find it comical to watch. Also, you may have SY males harassing the newly fledged young too. And some of the fledglings may be entering another Martin's nest, which will readily cause a fight.
