I know this is not the right forum but I need some expert bird advise. I found two baby pigeons in the parking garage of my office. This was on Monday. I have been checking up on them all week and the parent was either near them or with them up until yesterday. I haven't seen an adult pigeon with them since Wednesday. I called a rehabber and they said to check the crop and see if it is full, this morning at 7am I checked and it didn't seem full. About 9:45am I checked again and now it does look full but I'm no expert. Can anyone tell from this pic if this is a full crop or if I need to get them to a rehabber ASAP?

Thanks!

Thanks Twins. They are on the ground of the parking garage. They had a nest above where they are but we've had so much rain, I think the nest got washed out and they babies fell to the ground.

They have been here since Monday. I worry about leaving them but the closest rehabber is 45minutes away from me and I'm at work so I can't really leave to take them.

So you think the crop is full and they are being fed?

I agree with Twins! Crop is full. Get a shoebox or a similar small box approximately 12"x12" with about 3" walls on all sides, add pine needles or cedar chips but make sure the box will not fall. Us a small weight under the pine needles if you have to to keep it from moving. The point is to keep the box from moving. Parents will come back to the nest. Good luck!

Thanks Jose. I built them a nest on the ground and put them in it. I do have a box that is 8 1/2 x 9. If I place them in the box, will the parents continue to feed?

They should. The box serves two purposes. 1. To keep them from falling over an edge. 2. Gives them a sense of security "hidden" from others.

Good Luck!

they were up against the bumper things (not sure what they are called) in the garage. as in these pics. I've placed them in a box. Hopefully they will make it.

That's Perfect! Good Job! We've been raising pigeons for over 20 years. some like the floors in our pigeon coop, and some like boxes mounted to the walls. Good Luck!
