My birds have been coming back a little earlier each year. Last year was 3/24 so I figured they could be back any day now. I told myself there was no need to watch the gourd racks because I always here them long before I see them. So there I am watching the gourd rack :) and there they are. A male and female with the male sitting on the top of the rack and the female sitting next to a decoy on my perch antenna. This was at 9 am and mid 30's for temps and they're sitting there soaking up the sun and as it warmed a bit they starting checking out the gourds. I figure they checked in last night without notifying me of there arrival. Anyways if your in the Kansas City area and trying to start a colony, go ahead and get your dawn song on.

2021......to be seen.
24 natural gourds on a satellite rack,9 other gourds scattered around
2-12 compartment trio houses
Rarely see a sparrow or starling, but when I do they don’t last long!
Will have a second satellite rack for the 2022 season and phase out the houses, the martins here strongly prefer natural gourds.

Good for you Dean! I know ur glad to em after all that’s gone on this year . Good wishes to ya for this season
