I was surprised he came back. He's still not spending the night. He showed up really late last year, late May. He was also an SY. He tried all the way into mid June to find a mate but couldn't. He came back April 5'th this year and he's full blown purple. He's a lot prettier now and arrived much earlier. I saw him bring another male in for a look this morning. I saw Whippy's post concerning a female deficit in the area. Maybe he'll get a mate when the females finally arrive. I didn't realize females arrived later than males. I think this is a critical year for me. If no female will accept my location this year, then they never will. If he can't get a female to accept my site this year, then he won't be back next year either. This is truly a "do or die" year for me in my opinion.

An asy male shouldn't have any trouble finding a mate. I have heard several others telling of a sy male returning as an asy and starting there colony. Good Luck

This is exactly how my colony got started. Thus my username - Junior07. In 2007 the young guy started stopping by around lunch time almost daily. After 3 years he brought a gal with him and the rest is history. My colony will be very close to fledging 300 this season if all goes well.

Patience does pay off. “ If you build it they will come. “ Hang in there and Good Luck👍🏻

ASY males are a big draw to the ladies. Dont discount this guy, he's trying his hardest and came a long way! A single ASY pair started ours, drew in other pairs and walah.

One PS: have a bunch of subbie Fresh Faced females here, ASY and SY birds are going nuts. They will move on, hope they end up with your guy.
