I noticed that my colony starter, a 3rd year male, has no black on his right foot-it looks pink colored. Also, the foot's long toe in the front is shorter than the other foot and other martins. He can perch ok, but, Iwonder if this is an injury of some type or some malady, such as mites.
At the same time, I noticed that the 3 eggs I swear I saw last sunday are now gone-there are no snakes here, this is a natural gourd, hung from a house, can't believe racoons could ever get into the gourd.
What is wrong with flesh-colored ASY's right foot? Any ideas

Hi JK,
Leg and foot injuries may a sign of owl predation. Read:

Possibly an owl attack damaged the eggs, too, and the pair removed them from the nest.
Is his mate still around? If not, then he may have removed the eggs in preparation for finding a new mate.
Good luck, Mary
