Hi everyone, going on my 4th year here in PA still waiting. Can anyone help I.D. this bird that has been hanging around all day? I do have Bluebirds nesting about 100 yards behind my Martin housing. Any ideas if this is a ASY or something else, appears to have Purple on the tail. Thank you

I am in New Tripoli, PA about 1/2 hour North of Allentown, PA. For now I turned off the daytime chatter, last year I had a Martin come and it seemed like it was looking around for the other birds. So for now I am keeping the daytime chatter off to see what happens.

Well this afternoon I noticed a Purple Martin flying around my gourds checking them out. It flew around for a bit and then left, I did have the song bird magnet playing daytime chatter at the time. This is my 3rd year trying, the same thing happened last year. Any chance this is a SY?

I tried to attach a photo for everyone to look at. Today I came home from work and she was around again, she perched on top of my house for about 5 minutes then flew away and chirped several times! I am not sure if she spent the night or not. I am not sure if there are any colonies close by or not.

I looked out the window at 7:45am this morning and saw what appear to be a Purple Martin flying around my house. Low and behold a pair of Martins flew to the gourds and poked their heads in!!!!!! I don't think they actually went in them, but they checked them out. Fingers crossed!
