My TS pair successfully fledged 7 babies about 4 weeks ago. They had their own gourd but spent a lot of time perched on my T14 all summer. I noticed the parents did not leave as quickly as they normally do and are still here. Since the fledge they have been hanging out on a Big Bo that is below my T14 and yesterday I lowered it to clean out a HOSP nest and noticed they were starting to bring feathers into the Big Bo (I had nest made). My lone SY male left about a week ago and this morning I can see one of the TS sitting on the nest with its head out by the entrance just looking out.
Has anyone ever had TS lay a second clutch after the first one was successful, especially this late in the year?
Tree Swallows on a 2nd clutch.
Hi Flyin-lowe
We've always had a few pair to renest,I beleive there's 3 pair renesting now .Some one told us that it's because they lost their first babies some how. Don't really know why, thats just what we've been told. Maybe someone else knows for sure.

Mine definitely didn't loose the first clutch because I was home the day they fledged. The last three years I had missed it some how or the other something always came up and when I got home they were gone.
How many pair did you end up with this year, and how many young did you/will you fledge?

I know the tree swallows here fledged there young also but I meant maybe a owl or hawk may of got them after they left,I really doubt it but I don't know.
If your talking about how many TS there was 14 pair all together,I don't know how many have fledged,I don't mess with them once they nest only give them feathers when they are nest building.
