I am experimenting with Nite Guard Solar. I used the product last season, and will be using it again this year. I did not experience any owl predation last season and hawk predation was minimal. I'm not sure my good fortune has anything to do with Nite Guard Solar. Maybe just dumb luck. Does anybody have anything new to add regarding their experience with this product?

- Martin Colony History: First started in Gretna, La in 1969 with a small homemade house, have had martins ever since at 2 different homes in Texas
I think that it depends upon how many owls and how hungry the owls get. We have many barred owls, and the lights did not work for me. I wanted them to work, so good luck to all that use them. We had a dry year, the owls probably were very hungry, and the lights did not stop them

Craig I had the same experience and will be using them again this year. I know our resident GHO inspected the lights early in the season and I expected them not to help. But no problems last year with owls or hawks and I hope that continues. We will see!

To be fair, I did not follow the instructions, and I really don't think anyone should complain about something if they have not followed the instructions.
I had the lights on each of the 2 corners of my boat house that are nearest to the martin house.
I'm quoting this without looking at the instructions right now, but I believe they would have you mount a separate 4 x 4 at least 8 feet away and put a light on each side of the 4 x 4, so you would need 4 lights in total. I only had 2.
It is interesting that the 2 positive reviews so far have been with a GHO, and the 2 negative reviews have been with a barred owl. I wonder if that makes a difference.
On a personal note, I don't like looking at the fast red flash out my window. I wish the flash would go slower.

I have four of the lights.
It has kept the hawks away in the very early morning hours when the lights are still flashing but not during the day at all.
I have not had another owl attack but I have seen the owls very close by.

WE HAVE ONLY ONE NITEGUARD AND IT IS MOUNTED ON TOP OF ONE OF OUR HOUSES. WE HAVE HAD IT FOR THREE YEARS AND HAVEN'T HAD AN OWL SEEN ANYWHERE NEAR THE HOUSES. BEFORE WE GOT THE NITEGUARD WE HAD AN OWL KILL ALL OUR MARTINS.
