I hope everyone that your martins are doing ok. The weather has been pretty bad, yesterday it was sunny and it as in the high 50s. I still don't have anything, but I had a pair of Tree Swallow that were flying low over my housing yesterday(maybe trying to land on the martin housing or nest box nearby, I won't let them nest in my housing). Anyway last year I had Tree Swallow flying low of my yard about a week before my martins arrived maybe its a sign that I will get a martin in a few days. My first martin arrived in April 27th last year.

Hi All,

From Tim's post titled martins, martins and more martins, it sound like as soon as these storms move out for a day or two we will have a big influx of martins. The temps are supposed to be in the 70's soon and that should be all it will take.

I too had mine start coming in this weekend. Friday I had a landing but he didn't' stick around too long. Saturday it was rainy and he was around some. Then yesterday I was gone all day but when I came home around 7PM there were two ASY males and 2 AYS females here most of the evening. I don't know if they stayed or left for the night. More then likely they left but they will be spending the night soon enough. We are supposed to have warm temps this week but rain. Hopefully there are some dry spells during the day between the rain showers.

My 3 that left came back plus a whole lot more. I think I'm around 5 pair plus i extra female. Could be a good year.

I hope everyone is doing ok with the rain. Monday it rained here all day but for a few hours it opened up so the martins could feed. Yesterday it was just windy all day, so the martins had plently of time to feed. I'm glad for yesterday's sunny as it is supposed to rain all day. I have 3 martins here. My male may have a female taken interest in my place, and there is another male that visits sometimes.

Last night just before dark I had 3 pair around the house 3 males, 3 females. I have had 2 pair since last weekend and an extra male. I don't know if the 3rd female was visiting or one that showed up. The last couple days they have started claiming cavities and I have seen a little fighting. I still think all of these birds are some from last year because they are all on my T14 and the gourds underneath. I have a brand new gourd rack about 15 foot away and they haven't paid any attention to it. The good news is I had 5 pair last year and now I have 3 pair my first week of this year. I can't wait until the subbies start arriving, they can fill the gourd rack.

Same goes for me. Last year I had 7 pr. I have 5 pr so far. Looks like we might have a good year with subbies yet to come.
