Martin Colony History: First started in Gretna, La in 1969 with a small homemade house, have had martins ever since at 2 different homes in Texas

Insurance may cover some damage. When we had a severe hailstorm, I got paid for 16 gourds that were broken too badly to repair. He said that they would not pay for slightly damaged gourds. I settled for the price of 16 plastic gourds

I've been thinking of Steve and Bob so often since I read of the damage in their area. It is so wonderful to see how helpful and caring people are. Those who went to help Steve are true angels. It is nice to know that for the most part, the birds will have homes again.

I love reading Steve's posts and will be watching for things to return to some normalcy for him and Bob and will be waiting for his wonderfully written posts.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those that received damage in these devastating storms.

Any update on how Steve & Bob are doing?

I know his power is out, but Scott D. or Malcolm - have either of you guys talked to Steve in the last couple of days?

Kathy I spoke with Steve the night before last. I was supposed to go down to his place yesterday morning but the "bug" hit me in the middle of the night and was too sick to drive or go anywhere yesterday.
He is doing good even without electricity. He seems to think he lost allot of birds. The numbers aren't there as to what he and Bob had before the storm. Hopefully his electric will come on soon and will be able to give us an update about his and Bob's colony.
He is truly an outstanding individual.

Kathy:

I spoke to Steve yesterday evening. His power is back on and he stated he was going to make a post on the forum last night. I didn't see a post from him this morning, so I can only assume he still has a problem accessing the internet.

I don't want to take anything from what Steve wants to post but I will touch on a few items. First and foremost, Steve was very appreciative to those who showed up at his house the day after the tornado hit. He stated he was mentally in no shape to handle the task that needed to be done.

Steve stated he has found 20 to 30 dead martins however it looked like he was down 100 pair from where he was before the storm. Most systems are back up and re-nesting has begun.

Thank you for the update, Tim & Malcolm. It's good to hear that some form of normalcy is returning (if you can call it that at this point), but hopefully that will be a small positive point in this tragedy.
