I am from OK and staying the night in Victoria at Motel 6, south side of town. Thousands of birds came in at dusk. It was a little dark , but they
looked like PM. Could this be a roost??? Whatever it was quite a sight.

Dont know what to tell you, I just figured that all the martins would have left the US by now. :???:

Jerry,

What you were seeing were probably Barn Swallows. They came thru Dallas week before last with a morning stopover on the road leading to the Rehab Center. I would guess their numbers were over 500 for several days in a row. They were feeding over several hayfields and a small pond.

Jerry,
I live less than 100 miles southwest of Victoria. I truly doubt you are seeing martins in huge numbers. A roost of 2-3 thousand would be possible at this point in time. We are seeing huge numbers of great tailed grackles and red winged blackbirds coming through right now. The blackbirds could number in the hundreds of thousands.

I wish you would have stopped by down here. Would love to meet you.
