What other sparrow has the black bib on it's throat other than the male house sparrow? I had one visiting my feeder this morning. I started to get out the shot gun until I looked at it through my binoculars. My camera pics are too blurry so it wouldn't do any good to post them.

Harris Sparrow, Black-throated Sparrow, are two native sparrows that are found in TX, both have black bib effect -

I would bet you had a Harris - they are really pretty.

I would bet Harris sparrow, too. If you look closely they are appreciably bigger than HOSP's. I trap and release them here at my house all of the time.

I'm just west of DFW & have Harris' sparrows all winter long! I enjoy watching them...they very rarely land on my feeders except my open window feeder but ground feed under them!

I believe that's it.This is the first one that I've ever seen that I can recall.
It's good to be able to identify the different ones at your feeder. :)

This one was definitely foraging on the ground under the feeder.
