Be ready landlords.

This is only the second time the Storm Prediction center has issued a High risk designation 2 days prior to an event.

Strong wording with it also.
"A HIGH RISK WILL BE ISSUED DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FOR A HIGH-END LIFE THREATENING EVENT ACROSS THE SRN AND CNTRL PLAINS."

The last time there was a 2 day "High" risk assigned there were 91 confirmed tornadoes[

Models are still holding.. looking to be epic. I would say the action will start early after noon in nebraska and fire all day into evening. Dallas to Iowa should be on alert.

March 3rd the weather service predicted tornados for southern Indiana. I had never read a line in weather predictions that actually said "tornados". Ten miles south of me the town of Henryville then the towns east were torn apart.

When tornados are in the forecast, heed the prediction!
Fledged over 3,000 martins in beautiful southern Indiana since 1996.
Started 2 colonies and mentored 3 colonies with total fledged >4,000 martins into the world.

Dorn, many thanks for posting this! I didn't realize at first that the maps update on their own. That makes them especially useful! But I experienced a moment of false relief before I realized that they are for the 15th and 16th  . Looks like both of us are still in the crosshairs for today and especially this evening -- so you and everyone else in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska stay safe tonight!

As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

We just readied our detached concrete cellar at our old Kansas two story farm house. We have one just like Sally Field's in Places in the Heart. It's clean, it's stocked and it will be cozy with two adults, dogs, as many farm cats I can grab (kennels) and a small parrot. If only I could bring in the horses, goats and martins.

We are 80 miles west of Wichita. Maybe I'll go take a nap now. Have a great season and I enjoy this forum.

Deb

p.s. Too bad for Lowe's when I need to rebuild my house. I'm still annoyed at this time.

Hey Dorn,
The news just said Kansas had 97 tornadoes in 39 counties last night. The closest ones to us were over twenty miles away. One formed north of us about twenty or so miles and went on to hit Lyons.

Most of the evening we stayed in this valley or corridor on radar that was clear. We had some crazy lightening all around us but no bad storms. How about you?

Nancy, I hated hearing about the family from Woodward. I hope you and yours were also safe and not affected.

Tony,
Now that's a close one. We watched KWCH 12 most the day and night and I thought those guys did such a nice job with coverage and reports and radar. I noticed it's different of course with the size of the community and the warning reaction. Such as for Wichita when sirens went off Ross Jannsson said, now's not the time to panic...unless you are in the southern portion basically. But for Conway Springs and Clearwater...don't hesitate take cover now!

As far as I've seen Kansas didn't lose lives which is amazing considering the volumes and damage done. Sure glad we decided not to buy Miranda Lambert tickets at the last minute. Intrust Arena with thousands of people would have most definitely been the least desirable place to be to us!

Hi, Deb! I'm glad that you and Tony are okay, hope the same for Dorn and the other Kansas landlords! We didn't have any damage here and my main concern (for my place alone) was whether the male ASYs who have been coming by were safe! I was prepared to get my cats and dogs underground but we weren't ever close to having to go. My mom in Alva, my aunt, their dogs, and most of their neighbors, ended up in my aunt's storm shelter for a while. They and their homes are fine. But poor Woodward and especially those kids. The folks in Woodward had been sent to their shelters earlier in the evening when a different storm hit. The first storm apparently knocked out all the sirens, so they didn't go off later when the tornado was coming. They had storms earlier in the week with 3" hail, and just observed the 65th anniversary of an EF-5 that killed over 100 people. Good grief. My prayers are with Woodward and everyone who was affected by these monster storms. Glad you're safe!

all good here. I lowered the trio, enough and on top of that the forcast was a little off for the eastern part of the warned areas. Which I am glad for.

My ASY male is even still hanging around.

I'm not real clear on the Woodward situation but I believe I heard on the news the sirens were knocked out (or power) and it hit around midnight. That is your worst nightmare on a day/night like Saturday. Activity all around you and it gets late and there's always that worry if it's safe to go to bed or not. So sad.
