Disappointing nest check

My last nest check on the 9th had 29 eggs and 22 young. Today, (after watching my birds being upset about HOSPs ), I did a check and found I had lost 9! eggs between 2 cavities. One porch was covered with yolks, the other had a lot of blood. Needless to say, I was devastated.
I have been fighting this one pair of sparrows, (after dispatching a 2nd pair), but have had no luck with trapping or shooting. They have gotten very cautious.
My question........has anyone ever heard of any type of poison to put in the HOSP nest? I have made sure that the HOSP eggs have been made non-viable.
My nest check today gave me 13 eggs and 32 young. (had to remove 3 non hatched eggs last check). I really am very happy for the colony I am growing. My husband has agreed to build another T-14 for next year.

Sorry to hear of your losses...I hate losing any of my babies or eggs!!! I've had trouble with SY predation this season for a first time!!!
It won't help you now but if I were you...I'd put up an old Trio Grandpa & put several spare-o-door traps in it(close the other holes) & one by one eradicate the hosps from your area. I have 2 traps in my houses & I keep it set 365 days a year. I have trapped all investigating hosps that come near my site in them...so far this year...15 are eradicated! They can't resist that little hole!!!
There is a Trio MSS12 in the next neighborhood behind my property that is totally under trees. I put a PMCA flyer in their mailbox but it did not help. It is a HOSP factory so I'm constantly trapping them at my site! It amazes me how many Trios are in my area & most are too close to trees & are producing no telling how many ratbirds!!!!!
The other thing you could do is to have your husband make one of the compartments in your new T14 fitted for a spare-o-door trap.
