Do the sparrows eat bugs and insects same as Martins. I have a nest of sparrows on my front porch and want them gone............

They eat birdseed, bread/junk food, and insects. Are you certain the birds on your porch are house sparrows? A photo would be helpful - birds that will nest on a porch include wrens, phoebes, house finches, barn swallows. Where is their nest?

In a high corner of the porch on a ledge. They look just like the ones that try to take over my martin housing, which they did this year. I am furious with them

Even a picture of the nest would help. House sparrow nests don't look anything like the nests of phoebes, barn swallows, or house finches.

From everything you are saying it sounds like house finches. They look allot like house sparrows. They are good to have around. A picture would be better for us to identify with though.
