My site at the new home had one pair in 2010 and one pair in 2011. There were some visitors at the end of the year just passing thru. However, this year we have 14 or 15 nesting pair and the attached photos shows what happens in the evening. Actually, right at dark there are more, and all are attempting to get on the gourd rods and roost for the night! On one attempted count at dusk, I could see 50 on each gourd tree and there were
30 or more in the cypress tree in the pond. Multiple pics but 2 gourd trees! :-)

- Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

That is great. Love your pics. To be fair I love just about any martin pics. I'm experiencing that too. I had 7 nesting pair this year but in the evening I am seeing more birds at my place too. It's a nice hoorah before they move on. Congratulations to move and get things going like that in three years.
