Song Magnet

I have my Song magnet playing the Dawn song 20 feet up in the air attached to the gourd rack near the gourds will the loud sounds scare the Martins away from the gourds if im not around just wondering im still trying to get Martin by the way thank you![/quote]

I was concerned about the same thing when I placed my song magnet. I did not attach it directly to my gourd rack. I attached it to a pole about 40' away from my gourds but facing toward them about 15' up. I turned the volume all the way up and I put it on a timer. 4:30 a.m. is my on time and 6:30 a.m. it shuts off. I have noticed significantly more Martins since setting it up. I used to run it in the day time but I cut it back when the Martins started hanging around more. I also have three decoys on my rack. When I do my daily tare outs I change the positions of the decoys. This seems to keep everyone curios and constantly exploring. If you do not have decoys you may want to try them out. Your songbird magnet attached to your housing is the ideal location. It will not scare off your martins. Just the opposite; it is what attracts them down to your site.

Here is a picture of my gourd rack I took last fall. You can see the green songbird magnet attached to the lower set of mounting arms. These were martins leaving a large martin roost that were attracted to my site due to the dawnsong emitting from the magnet. Good luck

I use the magnet too, but I just have it on my porch rather than my housing. It does seem overly loud so I had the same worries.

When I got started I used the song magnet and had it attached to the side of my housing. I got a pair the first year! I had it turned up until the birds started hanging around the house a lot then turned it down. After they started nest building I turned it off.
