Rogers Wildlife has 5 displaced babies from last Wednesday’s storms that hit the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

All babies are fat healthy and around 7 days and younger and they would certainly be better off with foster parents than being raised in rehab at this age. If anyone is interested in helping please contact me @ the Center 972-225-4000 between 9AM to 5PM. I'll be there Sunday and Monday. Thank You!

Moving this up - surely there are a few landlords in the Dallas-Ft Worth area who can help these nestlings? There are hundreds of landlords, at least - if you know someone (not everyone is glued to forums, facebook, etc  ) give them a heads up, please. The birds would be much better off in a nest with martin sibs and martin parents. Five nests to adopt one each would do the job.

I would love to help but don't have any even close to hatching yet. Nest check tomorrow so I can double check but even if they are hatching they will be tiny and my friend in rockwall is behind me.

Keep me posted, if I have any small clutches, I can move some babies around and put them with some parents.

Another thought, make a post and ask if anyone in Central Texas has some small clutches due to the cold snap and could move babies around and take them. I think they might be far enough ahead to help.

Hi Penny,

How are you? Between 1 and 7 days old, I bet I could fit them in somewhere but Im not in the DFW area. Im down south and south of Austin but I know there are loads of martin peeps up there. They probably have not looked on this site yet since its a Monday.

I have a feeling starting June, you going to get busy. We got no rain again this year and its just a matter of time before the drought and heat hit.
2008~(1st yr) 4 pairs, 11 to 12 fledged
2009~(2nd yr) 9 pairs, 41 fledged
2010~(3rd year) 11 pairs. 50 fledged
2011~(4th year) 20 pairs, 23 out of 23 gourds Martin occupied, 3 fledged, the rest died in the drought. (1 new Blue Bird, 3 BB fledged.)
2012~ 26 pairs, approx. 100-110 fledged

Landlords from other areas have offered, but due to time to transport back & forth, a Dallas area site would be only option, from what I read.

Louise, I have called both the office number & her cell number. It says don't leave a phone message. I'll be glad to take the nestlings and spread them between the nest that I have now. I have at least 4 nest with the same age babies. I'm about 30 minutes from Rowlett, TX

Just spoke to her. I'm guessing I just place them in the nest with same age babies and the parents will take over? I've never done this before.

She will give you some suggestions, but basically it's choosing a nest with adult parents, and with young as close to same in size as possible. Then look for nests with 2-3 young, not more than 4, to avoid overloading the foster parents.
