Martin Colony History: Purple Martin Landlord since 2006

Due to relocating, I had been feeling really low having to leave behind my thriving Purple Martin colony. While unpacking at our new home I began looking through old family photos. Shockingly I find this old black and white photo of my great grandfather's Purple Martin House dated 1943! I had never met my great grandfather who passed away in the early 50's. This has been such an inspiration! I can't wait to use it on this Forum as my Avatar!
Proud to be a fourth generation Purple Martin landlord.

Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

That is really neat! So sorry you had to leave your colony. That would be so hard. But...even though starting over...it is great to have another place benefit a good landlord to fill the skies with more martins. You hang in there and keep your chin up.
