Wow, that was a moving video! I didn't know that the Purple Martins were listed as "Endangered Species" before now... it's another important reason to be passionate about these majestic birds!

Awesome video. It is sad that the martin is on the endangered species list. It shows us all that we all need to be more active in educating the public and encouraging new and responsible landlords to create available housing for the martins. Love the video, very peaceful and interesting. Thanks to the Minnesota working group and their active approach to helping martins.

Each state wildlife agency has a state wildlife action plan (SWAP). The plan lists those wildlife species in need of conservation action, usually in the form of habitat improvement. Federal grants are available to fund habitat management projects for species on the list like purple martins. A link to Minnesota's SWAP list is,

The purple martin was not in the original list but has probably been added as Tony clarified. These plans are specific to each state. For example, martins are still common and actually increasing in Kentucky, so martins are not listed in Kentucky's SWAP.
