MamaBuff I had 0ne pair in the Trendsetter in 2012 and 14 pair in 2013 and now I have put up new housing for all the kids when they come home in 2014. I counted 54 on the wire one day before they left so I am hoping for a great year this year again. Thanks! Dave ( Bluetick )

Martin Colony History: Had my site up to 22 gourds of which most (+/-3) stayed occupied.
Downsized to 17 gourds due to back surgeries. Had 14 families in 2017 but did not do nest checks due to health. Feeling better in 2018 and hoping for a good year.

That's a very nice site! Nice place you have too!
Good luck this year.

Thanks everyone. I love my birds and I want to have one of the nicest colonies in Perry county. I have faith now that I had 14 pair last year after only 1 pair in 2012 I am on my way. I would love to have 20 to 30 pair this year. I have already bought another gourd rack to put up in the middle of the season for next year if my birds come this year like I am hoping. I had one nest last year that had 5 eggs left that the birds left or got killed. The fourteen other pair all had at least four birds that fledged so I am expecting some of the kids to come home. My S&S has sure been catching the starlings and a few sparrows. I think that was a good add on to my colony. Hope everyone has a good year. Tomorrow night is going down to 10 degree so I hope my birds stay away until about the 1st of April. Dave P.S. Dick you are welcome anytime.

Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

Looks fantastic! See Mama and other second year hopefuls...another landlord that also started with one pair.

Dave I hope you get your big jump in numbers! I'm anticipating the same thing. I added last year jumping from twelve cavities to thirty-two. Went from six pairs to thirteen. Fledged 47. So...whatever happens I too hope to be in the same 20 to 30 pair range this year! I will be watching you! Good luck!
