Highs in the 80's Sunday, storms and rain all day Monday, 50's today and 32 degrees tonight, high tomorrow in mid 50's; Would I be ok to do nest checks tomorrow mid afternoon or will birds already be too stressed?
With my work schedule Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays are my days to do nest checks. As always, thanks for any and all advice.

I think it will be ok. Birds in my yard stop building nest when it turns cold. I have had weather like yours the last few days. But I could not believe how the martins was out gourd hoping and sitting on the racks in the cold today. They must not be out of energy yet.

- Martin Colony History: I started trying to attract Purple Martins in 2011. I got my first breeding pair in 2013.
2013-1 pair, 2014-4 pair, 2015-8 pair, 2016-12 pair 60 babies :-).
I think you should be OK to do it tomorrow. They'll be fine.

For what it's worth, my martins were sitting on their perch, next to the gourd rack. I lowered the gourd rack to install hand warmers and before I had it fully erected, they flew right back into the gourds, before I had it all the way up. I hope this helps! .... Berndog
