Hi All -
I have two natural gourds and two super gourds that I would like to add to my set-up. Because of a health issue I was unable to get the task done until well now.
Two questions -
Can I add 4 gourds to an active housing unit - nest building, green leaves state. Doing nest check tomorrow - but I believe I have only 1 open unit in the Trendsetter?
I have the official gourd arms for the Trendsetter, but I think that would take too long, can I just attach directly to the corners with wire, and then add the arms after the season is over?

I would say that you can add gourds without disrupting the nesting of existing birds. I have done it successfully several times. But I have never had a trendsetter box so I'm not sure how that will work. If you think the structure will withstand the weight and movement of the gourds then it should work. Another option might be to drill a hole through the pole beneath the box , run a rod through, and mount the gourds to that. Of course that may be as much trouble as mounting the arms. Hopefully someone with more experience with trendsetters will be more helpful.
