Oregano essential oil is used for nesting chickens for mites. Is this an option for PM?

Martin Colony History: The 1972 St. Agnes flood wiped out all the Martins in my area. One day, in 1997-98, 5 or 6 Martins landed on the power wires crossing my back yard. I had no house for them. They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.

I would say no. Reason is the oil can get on their feathers. Once the oil is on their feathers they have no way to get it off & it causes an issue with them "zipping" their feathers together. This is not good for birds that fly.

Rocky, - hadn't thought of that! I do a lot of essential oils and soaps. I see Toy's point, but I wonder if putting a few drops on a cotton ball and putting it under the nest would work though?
I'll have to try this idea! thanks!
