Do we have to raise the porch up to 1/8 inch on the Excluder II as we do on the Modified Excluders? I did so on the two the I have however none of the Martins are using these two gourds. I'm concerned it's too close to the entrance and they aren't able to get in? I see them peeking in the entrance but no attempts to go in.

Should I adjust them to where the original holes are?

Thanks!
Mike

I've always placed all my porches on excluder gourds -- I use excluder II and modified excluder entrances on these gourds -- higher, at about 1/8 inch and the martins use them fine. I wanted to attain maximum starling restriction at public sites, while still admitting martins and has worked fine. Gourds I use this way at several sites get full occupancy.
