Martin Colony History: 2011 1 Pair, 2012 5 Pair, 2013 11 Pair, 2014 12 Pair, 2015 17 Pair. 2016 15 Pair DYI Gourd rack with 16 plastic gourds, Plastic 4 room house with 6 plastic gourds underneath.

With all the new sittings in Ohio I'm getting very antsy waiting for mine to return. Everything is up and ready to go. What a dilemma, I want to see them again but need them and me to wait; it's back down to the 20's and 30's for high this weekend. Mine returned on the 30th last year l guess I should hope they wait till then.

Mark….we didn't see martins arriving in western WI until mid-April the last two years.

Currently snowing, and 30 degrees. Hoping for a drastic change in the weather pattern. Could use some warm, sunny weather about now.

Mark, I'm glad you are prepared just in case yours come early. Just remember that some of us have had boxes up since the late 80s. That is the reason, it think, that some sites see them earlier that others. I was flipping crickets yesterday to 9 hungry martins and a few tree swallows. Trust me, it gets cold out there standing in the wind and snow sometimes. I wish you a great martin season.

Ron please don't be in a hurry I don't care if I don't see any for a couple more weeks.
My heart goes to my feet when I see them in this cold weather. Last year I was breaking ice off the holes and winches and putting in hand warmers in all compartments. The only thing good that came from that was the way they would jump into my hands for the heat. I love these birds so much and I worry so much when I cant help them

2016 100 pairs 600 babies fledged added another t-14 and have 126 openings now
2015 Jun 24 360 babies and 58 eggs also found one that had died
2017 632 babies 11died and 20 were killed by hawks

Just got home from work at 8:00 and had two ASY males sitting on my gourd rack. Watched them for a couple minutes and a third came out of a gourd. I only had two gourds open so when they lit I lowered the rack to open more gourds. I looked up and the 3 males were circling with an ASY female. What a beautiful site and sound to hear again. The weather has turned good at the perfect time. Let the good times begin.
