I have many sparrows and starlings. In spite of all the killing. I never can decide how many apartments to open up when the first birds show up.

- Martin Colony History: The 1972 St. Agnes flood wiped out all the Martins in my area. One day, in 1997-98, 5 or 6 Martins landed on the power wires crossing my back yard. I had no house for them. They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.
I open a few that I can see from my windows. Then when they are almost filled up I open a few more. When I see the first SY male I usually have most of the rooms open.
Check out the PMCA store for HS & Starling traps. They work.
Good luck,

Thanks, I trap and shoot all year. I in farm country. I have an S & S that works great until I start opening doors then is is somewhat less effective I Have 8 spare-o-doors which the sparrows get wise to after I catch 20 or so. Of course I have my shotgun which is very effective if the aren't on a house. I am going to try stuffing their holes in the night this year. I am also going to build a large troyer walk in trap. Never ending battle. Mice with wings and Rats with wings.
