I put a new house yesterday with a pully system so I could take it down with out tiliting it over. Following the advice of many here I put a decoy on a perch and this morning he was hit when is a good time to lower it and not disturb my colony or does it really matter. Also do I move the decoy to a different perch each time it gets hit or maybe face it in a different direction or does it really not matter ? Thank you MR DECOY hopefully you saved a martins life. If this works I will have a decoy on every house
Yep, the hawks will hit them.
I learned to put my decoys on the part of the rack that lowers for nest checks.
Makes them easy to strighten up during nest checks.
I have to straighten mine up a few times a year.
