Another Martin bringing home the green! I plan to make a nest check this Saturday. I'm hoping I have at least 4 pair this season! Fingers crossed!

Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

I love love love that!

Great photo! That guy looks really intense. I love how shiny and sleek he is. Best wishes as the bringing of the green continues!

Thanks everyone!

Anthony, with this decoy you can even move his head in any direction! Animatronics maybe?

My wife says, she doesn't see what the big deal with these Martins! They are ugly birds! They look so mean, like Darth Vader! What?! lol

Stunning shots!

Your wife is mistaken. Birds always look focused, because everything they do is done in great earnest. :) It's one of the things that I love about birds. They're never apathetic unless they're deathly ill!

Great pictures Jose. Let us know how the nest check goes. Last time I did a nest check I had over 100 babies and about 50 eggs that had not hatched yet. I have a lot of 6 babies per nest. Still have a few still nest building.

I'm hoping some of the early nesters will re-nest.
